WILSON GLOBAL COMMUNICATIONS FEATURED ON SBAIC WEBSITE

From the Small Business Association for International Companies website:

“WILSON GLOBAL COMMUNICATIONS CHAMPIONS BUSINESS, EDUCATION, GLOBAL MULTICULTURALISM”

If 13th century Venetian explorer Marco Polo were alive today, he would find a kindred spirit in Julia Wilson, CEO and founder of Wilson Global Communications, LLC based in Washington, D.C.

In 2017 and during the first quarter of 2018, Wilson Global represented several distinctively different American clients, whose educational and business pursuits brought them closer to explorer Polo’s preferred travel and trade destination – China.

Business Development:

Since Wilson founded her company in South Africa in 1994, Wilson Global has been a living testament of how small businesses can stimulate international development and multi-cultural partnerships through innovation in business and education.

Wilson last year brokered a deal with a major Chinese publishing house to publish Hampton University President Dr. William Harvey’s instructional and motivational book “The Principles of Leadership.” That book has been endorsed by top Chinese educators and administrators, and soon will be sold in Chinese bookstores and via e-commerce.

In Jan. 2018, Wilson traveled to China to assist the publisher in introducing the book to hundreds of Chinese bookstore wholesalers at the prestigious Beijing Book Fair to officially launch Dr. Harvey’s book. “Principles of Leadership is literally a how-to guide to pursuing and achieving personal and professional excellence,” Wilson said to the standing-room-only audience. “Dr. Harvey is a very successful educator and innovative businessman (he also owns the Pepsi Cola Bottling Co. of Houghton, Mich.) “His message is that through hard work, perseverance and education, a minority, and anyone else, can achieve his or her dreams.”

Dr. Harvey has announced that he will donate proceeds from his China book sales to scholarships for Hampton students. Hampton is one of America’s oldest and most prestigious Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

Following the book launch in Beijing, Wilson traveled to Hong Kong to lead a delegation of women-owned businesses from the U.S. to attend the Asian Financial Forum. The goal: to assist them in learning about the Asian marketplace and arranging potential business opportunities.

“Through our ongoing work with organizers of the AFF in Hong Kong, we successfully connected these American businesswomen with Asian investors and their business counterparts for potential collaboration through ‘matchmaking sessions’.”

Multicultural Education:

Wilson Global continues to connect a 40-member group of Historically Black Colleges & Universities to enable their students to study tuition-free at leading Chinese universities.

And in February 2018, Wilson served as the emcee for a “Raising Global Leaders” fund-raiser (hosted by the Confucius Institute U.S. Center in Washington, D.C.) for grade school students of the Washington Yu Ying Public Charter School. Proceeds from the event will enable the Mandarin-speaking 10- and 11-year-old students from that school to travel to China with their parents this summer to practice Chinese language and learn more about Chinese culture.

“The Yu Ying students are remarkable,” Wilson said. “They have been studying and speaking Mandarin since they were 3 and 4 years old. And, they have represented their school at various oratory, scholastic and entertainment competitions at the Confucius Center, the Kennedy Center, the National Zoo and the White House.

Wilson Global is a 100 percent woman- and minority-owned small business. Wilson founded her company in South Africa, following that nation’s historic first democratic election of Nelson Mandela as its president. She relocated Wilson Global to Washington, D.C. in 2005, and has worked with clients such as the African Union Mission to the United States (representing 54 African countries), and the U.S. Department of State in Brazil on behalf of the National Urban League to encourage inclusion of Afro-Brazilians in the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Summer Olympics. Wilson Global created television and radio programs such as ‘Good News Liberia,’ a radio show that encouraged Liberians throughout the Diaspora to assist with the country’s redevelopment under the leadership of Pres. Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf following 15 years of civil war.

“At Wilson Global, we believe that it is vital to develop cross-cultural relationships to better equip the next generation to understand, and successfully navigate in the global marketplace. Our goal is to continue building and enhancing international relationships, people-to-people, to help ensure sustainable international development for Americans to participate more fully in our interconnected world.”

“Attending the 2018 Asian Financial Forum in Hong Kong was, by far, one of the most rewarding, eye-opening, professional experiences I have had as a women-owned business. I enjoyed being a part of an historic delegation of all-American women businesses; and the value of the in-country knowledge, resources, and relationships brought by Julia Wilson and Wilson Global Communications in helping to lead our delegation were exceptional. I was pleased to be appropriately matched with potential business partners in Asia, and get a chance to participate in substantial one-on-one meetings. From dynamic Forum speakers to informative tours in Hong Kong, our trip was a wonderful way to start off the new year with an eye towards business growth globally!”

“My first visit to Hong Kong was by way of participation in the 2018 Asian Financial Forum; and it will always be remembered mostly due to the excellent partnership of Wilson Global Communications in leading our delegation. We made history, representing an all-American women delegation to the AFF, and were fortunate to benefit from the high level, yet close relationships that Julia Wlison and Wilson Global have established and maintained in China for many years. Our business meetings were meaningful; the information shared at the Forum was exclusively insightful; and our opportunities to network with business leaders and potential business partners from around the world were plentiful. This is a must for any U.S. business seeking to tap into the Asian marketplace or grow your business at home!”
